This course teaches the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, a process oriented and values-based approach to collaborative leadership. Designed to foster interpersonal, social, ethical, and moral development, it will instill an attitude of social awareness and responsibility. This leadership model is organized around three dimensions of values (individual, group and societal values); and encourages students to consider how they can make a positive change in their community. This year, we study and compare climate change activists and leaders who serve as models for effective leadership in climate awareness and environmental action. We use methodologies, processes and practices such as mindfulness, in-class presentation, a field trip and a poster session to promote change, understanding and analysis, to connect ideas and information, and to gauge the extent and limits of knowledge and contribution within the field.
